The 3751 Residence project consists of a custom steel fabricated fence enclosure for an urban row house micro-patio with areas for socialization, grilling, and a small dog run. The design process included several techniques ranging from traditional analog sketches to parametric design and generative artificial intelligence. We worked directly with the steel fabricator to design the perforation pattern which is a translation of DNA sequencing referencing the clients who are both employed in the medical field. The steel material was installed raw and allowed to slowly develop a rich patina. The pattern allows for vision out from inside while offering the desired screening from the adjacent sidewalk.
